Two Impress, a consultancy firm specializing in data management and integration solutions, partnered with Nestlé Professional, the foodservice division of the world's largest food and beverage company, to spearhead the integration of GS1 Standards across Nestlé's vast array of product data. Recognizing the critical need for high-quality, accurate product data in the early 2000s, Nestlé Professional embarked on a mission to cleanse and complete its product datasets for its globally recognized brands. The initiative was driven by the advent of digital transformation in the marketplace, emphasizing the importance of having reliable product information readily available. Two Impress played a crucial role in this process by leading the project management efforts and providing contracted hires, thereby ensuring the seamless integration of the Global Data Synchronization Network™ (GDSN®) and the implementation of Global Trade Item Numbers® (GTINs) for unique product identification.
The collaboration between Two Impress and Nestlé Professional yielded significant benefits, not just in terms of data quality, but also in cost savings and operational efficiencies. By updating and maintaining accurate product data for each of Nestlé's stock-keeping units (SKUs) and eliminating those no longer active in commerce, the partnership achieved millions of dollars in annual savings, estimated between $7,500 and $15,000 for each inactive product. This meticulous approach to data management not only reduced the burden on company resources, involving more than a dozen departments, but also enhanced transparency and trust among potential customers. As a result, customers were more likely to engage with and purchase Nestlé Professional products, giving the company a competitive edge in the market. The successful integration of GS1 Standards, completed in under 12 months thanks to the expertise and dedicated efforts of Two Impress and its contracted hires, marked a significant milestone in Nestlé Professional's ongoing digital transformation journey.
